DIY outdoor bird treats

Mix 3/4 cup of bird seed (any outdoor bird seed will work) with 2 tbsp of flour and 2 tbsp of water.
Then fill the inside of a cookie cutter with the bird seed mixture, squish it down and then remove cookie cutter.  We used circle shaped ones but you can use any shape of cookie cutter.
Next cut up a regular drinking straw into smaller pieces and insert into your bird treat making sure it is not too close to the edge. This will become your hole to string your ribbon through.  Bake treats at 170F for 1 hour. Once cool you can remove the straw and pull through your ribbon or string and hang them outside.

Backyard deck reno

This is what the upper level of the patio looked like before. From the back of our house it runs flat and then slopes down and then evens out again leaving an akward space. We figured a 2 leveled patio would work best for this area. The lower level was started last year.
Its starting to all come together. For now we can use the space more so than before.
Things still left to do:
-continue building stone wall up to deck edge
-add a railing
-add stairs
 -continue deck towards bbq area
-stain deck
 -replace ugly cushions on couch
-restain the outside of hot tub
- replace stair to hot tub
-finish roof of the gazebo

It feels like spring

The weather has been absolutly beautiful. Last week was a great week for the girls to have off for March break. We spent most of our time outside.
We had lunch at one of our favourite parks and climbed in the huge trees.

On the weekend

We checked out some reptiles and birds. The reptiles roamed and the birds flew around freely. It was a great way to experience the animals.
This bird (below) was very unique, not sure what kind of bird it was but it was very calm and just wandered around us. Every once in a while it would stop and peck at the ground and make the most unusual sound.
We also did a little bit of this......
